I have extensive experience with working with students who have found Mathematics challenging and mathematically able students aiming for the highest results, especially as I marked external A level papers during the COVID 19 period, where students were unable to take formal examinations. I specialise in teaching KS1 and KS2 Maths and KS1 to KS5 English. Having been through the education system to post-graduate level, I understand the importance of motivating children to aim high and to be consistent in their studies, from an early age. I am passionate about supporting children and young people in developing their confidence, in order to reach their full potential; tuition outside of mainstream school helps to develop numerous skills from which children will benefit not only academically, but in their personal and future professional lives. Each child is unique and I aim to adapt my teaching style based on the individual needs of the child. I seek to maintain a structured yet fun environment, where children feel free to participate and be inquisitive.
I attended and obtained 11 GCSEs at Abbs Cross School and Arts College. This was an environment that perfectly married creative arts with traditional education. I went on to Havering Sixth Form College in 2008, where I excelled in AS level and then took a year’s secondment relocating to Virginia, USA to attend Liberty University; whilst there I studied Pre-Law and International Relations, before then heading back to complete my A levels in Sociology, Modern World History and English Literature. After which I then attended the University of Hull to study Law. Whilst at University I rediscovered my love of words and am now a writer and Freelance Journalist. Having been published in a number of publications I can wholeheartedly say that I owe this to being nurtured in an environment that taught me to articulately express myself. As such I understand the importance of education as a solid foundation.
I have been working with We Teach for the last 2 years, primarily I teach Maths KS1 - KS2 and English KS1 - KS5. I completed my GCSE’s and A levels at Haberdashers School. I then went onto pursue various career paths to enhance my passion for Computer Science, which then lead me to teaching.
I have taught Computer Science and IT skills from KS2 to KS5, for the last 3 years. My teaching approach is very straight forward, especially as Computer Science is content heavy and complex. I am able to provide a thorough perspective that extends beyond the limitations of traditional classroom lessons. By presenting context for how Computer Science concepts are used in the real world, I am able to make these subjects easier to understand with a complete explanation for how they are used to solve problems that everyone can relate to. My lessons can also be tailored to cover exam preparation for various exam boards, such as AQA, CEA, Edexcel, OCR and WJEC. Using custom digital learning tools, you will be exposed to a hands on approach to learning the concepts behind Computer Science. My lessons begin with a visual presentation explaining the focus topic, followed by interactive exercises that help you to experiment, express and reinforce your understanding. With my support and explanation, each exercise challenges you to describe and refine your thinking process to solve longer answer questions using the skills taught.

I have particular experience with aiding students with Oxbridge applications (interview techniques, UCAS references and personal statements). My experience from teaching medical students in hospitals has enhanced my understanding of Science especially Biology, it has also given me a different outlook on how to teach my students. Teaching in Japan was an eye-opening experience, which has given me the skills to adapt my teaching style to various cultures. Having taught students with dyslexia and autism, I appreciate that different students struggle in different areas and I pride myself in understanding when the tutee doesn't fully understand and will explain the topic from different angles until they do. I have observed that a happy student is a more productive student. I consider every student as an individual and that’s how I make learning fun.
I am a former teacher of Geography at a private school in Kensington, I am completing a PhD at Imperial College London. I completed my secondary school education in Scotland, then moved to Manchester to study Geology at Manchester University.
I endeavour to make all lessons engaging and enjoyable. I usually emphasise the importance of exam technique in all my subjects, as it is understanding and using the mark scheme that is key to seeing those improvements in grades. Understanding command words like "Evaluate", "Discuss" and "To what extent..." are crucial in obtaining the best results, especially in essay questions. Subject knowledge is also very important and plays a large part in completing exams successfully. I can help students obtain this by providing relevant content, my exam expertise, additional reading material that is not necessarily in your textbook.
I am the head of Modern Foreign languages in a school in Oxford. I graduated from Cambridge University, where I studied French, Spanish and Latin. I took my GCSE’s and A levels in Spain. Students often seem to lack self-confidence in their approach to languages, and this is somewhere I am able to help. An important element of language study is translation, a skill which is often overlooked, but which I believe is one of the best ways to improve every aspect of competence. Learning languages differs from other academic subjects, therefore I develop each skill (listening, reading, writing and speaking) using various methods. I explain the theory and grammar and then work through exercises which encourages application. Working through each skill set will encourage vocabulary development and techniques for memorising new words. I strongly encourage conversations in the target language, throughout the lessons.
