At 'We Teach', we specialise in providing bespoke tuition for students, both group and individual, between the age of 4 and 18 (reception to year 13).  We provide our students with the knowledge and skills to reach their full potential and take the stress and worry out of sitting examinations.

About Us

Our Approach

We are passionate about empowering young people to take ownership of their studies and get excited about the doors education can open, whether that’s getting into a particular school, mapping the path for a future vocation or just exploring a fascinating new topic. We believe that tuition gives students the perfect opportunity to ask questions, which would perhaps not be thoroughly answered in a class environment. We often find that through this process our students develop a real passion for subjects, which they previously didn’t necessarily enjoy. We are a team of outstanding tutors, who nurture creativity and technique in order to achieve excellence.

How we support our SEN students

At ‘We Teach’, we are aware that teaching needs to be adapted to meet the needs of individual students and that tutors need to be flexible to ensure that adaptions can be made, to enable students to reach their full potential. In order to ensure this, we strive to identify where additional resources and strategies need to be embedded during the lesson to enable students to access the learning. As SEN specialists, our tutors tailor their approach to each pupil, aiming to create a non-stressful, supportive working environment in which children can build confidence and develop at their own pace.

We provide SEN screening assessments, to find out more information, please contact Rebecca Jones via email on

Our group lesson structure

After an initial session to assess a student, we will tailor lesson plans based on ability and the school or result they want to achieve.

The lesson consists of both Maths and English teaching, 55 minutes per subject with a 10 minute break in between. There are two classes for different age groups, one for those aged between 4 and 7 years old (Reception to year 2) and the other for those aged between 7 to 11 (year 3 to year 6).  Each class consists of 4 children per tutor.

Both lessons are broken up into 3 segments.

English lesson

  • The first 15 minutes are spent completing a spelling test.
  • The second segment of the lesson consists of completing an  exam style comprehension activity, a creative writing exercise or verbal reasoning activity.
  • The last 10 minutes of the lesson is spent writing a mini book review on what the pupil has read during that week.

Homework:  The students will be set a spelling list every week, of which they will have to find the meaning of 5 of the spellings. The students will also be encouraged to consistently read a book of their choice.

Mathematics lesson

  •  The first 15 minutes will be spent completing a mental maths exercise.
  • The second segment will be spent completing a maths exercise or a non-verbal reasoning activity.
  • The last 10 minutes of the lesson, will be spent either completing word problems or a maths puzzles.

Homework: The students will be set homework according to the topic covered during the lesson.

Assessment of progress

  • The students will complete an assessment every term, which is when there will also be a parents evening to review your child’s progress.
  • The tutors will complete a weekly report, which will display the activities each pupil has completed during the session and the score they have achieved. The pupil will also have an opportunity to share their opinion on the lesson and the parent/carer can sign and write a comment or a question on this report.

Meet the Team

Rebecca Jones

I am a highly experienced private tutor, and have been tutoring part time since graduating with a First-Class honours degree in 2010 and full time since completing my PGCE in Economics and Business Studies at UCL. Prior to commencing my Economics degree, I attended Old Palace School of John Whitgift, where I completed my GCSE’s and A levels. I have accumulated a wealth of experience, having taught in China for one year, worked in three London schools, been a senior tutor at a tuition centre, home-schooled students with complex needs and delivered Skype tuition to students across the globe, I am adept at working with a wide range of pupils of different abilities.

I have a particular interest in teaching KS1 and KS2 Mathematics and English, with special experience teaching for the SATS, 7+, 11+ and Common Entrance examinations. I have successfully tutored students for entrance into Dulwich College, Wallington County Grammar School, Cumnor House, St.Dunstans,  among others, as well as Oxbridge applications. I am fascinated by the application of Economics and Business Studies, I strive to instil my passion for my subjects within my students.  Having achieved a First Class Honours in Economics and teaching both Business Studies and Economics in an outstanding grammar school, I am equipped to teach at a high standard. At present, I am an examiner for both AQA and Edexcel Business Studies and Economics A level examinations, this experience has enabled me to mark an abundance of students’ scripts who have been taught using various methods and in differing environments, this has enhanced my understanding and given me a deeper insight into how to teach various examination techniques.

I have extensive experience with working with students who have found Mathematics challenging and mathematically able students aiming for the highest results. I believe that everyone can understand Mathematics, if it is explained in the right way. I pride myself on making even the densest topics interesting and accessible.

Abigail Tuitt

I completed my GCSEs and A Levels at Wallington High School for Girls, before studying LLB Law with Politics at Hull University. I went on to study the Bar Professional Training Course and qualified as a Barrister-At-Law in 2016.

Having been through the education system to post-graduate level, I understand the importance of motivating children to aim high and to be consistent in their studies, from an early age. I am passionate about supporting children and young people in developing their confidence, in order to reach their full potential; tuition outside of mainstream school helps to develop numerous skills from which children will benefit not only academically, but in their personal and future professional lives.

Each child is unique and I aim to adapt my teaching style based on the individual needs of the child. I seek to maintain a structured yet fun environment, where children feel free to participate and be inquisitive.
